On April 29th, the Photovoltaic Industrial Technology Cluster – FETEK proudly participated in a high-level event organized by the Council of the European Union, held in Brussels. The event brought together European decision-makers, cluster leaders, and industry stakeholders to discuss strategic pathways for enhancing the EU’s industrial competitiveness through innovation-led collaboration.

FETEK was represented by Cluster Manager and Team Lead Skirmantė Baležentienė, who was joined by representatives from Lithuania’s national innovation clusters, including LITEK and Agrifood Lithuania. The Lithuanian delegation showcased the country’s strong capabilities and success stories across the Photovoltaic (PV), Laser, and Agri-Tech sectors.

As Lithuania’s leading cluster for PV innovation, FETEK demonstrated how its member organizations—are translating advanced research into industrial-scale solutions, strengthening the EU’s clean energy transition and manufacturing capacity.

Key Contributions and Priorities

Throughout the event, FETEK emphasized several strategic priorities for advancing Europe’s innovation landscape:

• Agile and targeted funding mechanisms for mid-sized, cross-sectoral innovation clusters;
• Seamless technology transfer from research to manufacturing, ensuring that scientific breakthroughs reach market application efficiently;
• Cluster-based cooperation as a vital tool for fostering value chain integration, accelerating the scale-up of innovations, and enhancing industrial resilience across Europe.

FETEK  highlighted Lithuania’s growing leadership in photovoltaic technology and the pivotal role clusters play in connecting research institutions, industries, and policy frameworks. By uniting regions and sectors, clusters serve as powerful enablers of sustainable growth, technological sovereignty, and EU-wide competitiveness.
